A lot of people struggle with desires for material things, and a lot of people say that spending is good for the economy. Here’s a interesting video from The Center for a New American Dream about the high price of materialism.
Can the world in the future be void of materialism, without people craving things they don’t need? Could the economy continue without as much spending? Maybe we would have to attach more value to other things, paying people to plant trees, or recycle. Its not going to be easy, to make a happier more content world.
What can we do to help? Spending our money on worth while things and causes, boycotting big corporations who promote materialistic values. Being aware of the thing you yourself buy, and being aware of the things you need. We need to take the money away from the greedy, who misspend and encourage materialism. Spend money on projects to promote a sustainable future, and help communities ravaged by poverty and hunger.
Wouldn’t it be great if everyone could have everything? But if you had everything want you you do?
Wouldn’t it be great if everytime a materialist person bought some piece of shit thing, you could show them a starving child in person. There’s so much money and surplus food on this planet. How is it we are still buying shit, when people are dying????
